Since the last update in mid-July, a lot has happened in Chorilo again – this time with a clear focus on communication: notifications now reach several choirs at once, polls show who is still missing, and new counters make sure nothing slips through. Here is an overview of everything that has been added in recent weeks.
One notification for several choirs
Anyone who directs several choirs or serves on several boards previously had to write the same announcement separately for each choir. Now a single pass is enough: while composing, you can select several choirs in the choir picker, and everyone involved receives one shared notification. Comments, reactions and poll results come together across the choirs – a note on the notification makes this transparent for everyone. The prerequisite is that you are allowed to compose notifications in every selected choir. You will find all details and examples in our in-depth article on cross-choir notifications.
Polls show who has not voted yet
In a scheduling poll, what counts in the end is not only how many votes have come in, but also whose answer is still missing. Anyone who may edit a notification now sees a list of all active members who have not yet voted in the attached poll – neatly arranged with their voice part. That way you can follow up with the right people before the deadline instead of reminding the whole choir once again.
New counters for events, notifications and chats
Small numbers in the right places save a lot of searching: the events area now shows how many replies are still open, and the notifications area shows how many notifications are still unread – on the web as well as in the app. And if you have read a chat message but can only answer later, you simply mark the chat as unread again and are reminded of it automatically.
New event type: external event
The concert of a befriended choir, the singing festival in the neighbouring town or a training course for the choir director – such dates belong in the calendar even though they are not an event of your own choir. For these there is now the event type "external event" with its own colour in the calendar. A separate permission determines who can see these events, and they can be filtered in the event list as usual.
Finer control over notifications
Two further additions make notifications more flexible: comments can now be switched off per notification – handy for pure announcements that should not turn into a discussion. And links in poll options are now clickable: when voting on the next concert piece, each option can point directly to an audio sample or further information.
The app introduces new members
Anyone opening Chorilo on their phone for the first time is now greeted by a short introduction presenting the most important areas of the app. In addition, the app explains the symbols in the header right where they are. Members who are new to the choir in particular find their way around much faster – without any manual.
Further improvements
On top of that come many small things: the login now shows clearer error messages when something is wrong. The app displays a better loading indicator when opening sheet music, an error when sharing purchased sheet music has been fixed, as has an error with playlists. In Theatilo, recognised text passages in the line-learning trainer can now be corrected directly. We have also applied numerous security updates and revised the terms and conditions as well as the privacy policy.
We keep improving Chorilo step by step. If you have wishes for new features or come across something that could work better, we look forward to your feedback – via the AI chatbot, the feature request function or by email.
