September 2026: Parent link, events for several choirs and much more

A lot has happened in Chorilo since our last overview in early August. Children's choirs get a long-requested feature, events can be shared with other choirs, and the app has a completely new look. On top of that come many smaller improvements that make everyday work in choir and board easier. Here is everything at a glance.

Parent link: parents reply for their children

The most important addition of these weeks is for every choir with children and young people. With the parent link, a parent signs in once and accepts or declines for all of their children, with a reason for declining if needed. In polls within notifications, they vote for each child as well. Two children in the choir no longer mean three logins and three replies, but one tap with two ticks.

Linked parents see everything their children see in the choir, including the extra rehearsal that was only created for the sopranos. No information arrives too late because the note stayed in the school bag. The choir director can create children without their own email address with a family address, so invitations and reminders go straight to the parents. The children's chats and personal details, on the other hand, stay with the children.

The choir director switches on the parent link in the choir settings and then links parent and child with two clicks in the member list. One event for several choirs

The joint concert with the youth choir or the rehearsal two ensembles attend together: until now, such events had to be created in each choir separately, with separate replies and separate comments. Now you simply select all choirs involved under "Additional choirs" when creating the event. Everyone sees the same event with all replies, comments, tasks and sheet music. In the event list and the calendar subscription it still appears only once, even for members who sing in several of the choirs.

You need permission to edit events in every selected choir. The choirs involved are set when the event is created and cannot be changed afterwards.

Chorilo 3: the app in a new design

The Chorilo app has been redesigned from the ground up. There is a new home screen with your next events, running live rehearsals and your tasks, a bar in which you choose your most important areas yourself, and on tablets a sidebar with list and details side by side. Event cards show replies and voice part coverage right in the list. The sheet music view has moved its tools to the bottom, hides them when you don't need them and leaves almost the entire screen to the music. All the details are in our article on Chorilo 3.

Hal Leonard in the sheet music shop and your own recordings for licensed music

Since September, Hal Leonard has been a Chorilo partner, and thousands of choral titles are new in the sheet music shop. Read more in our article on the partnership. To go with it, choirs can now add, rename and delete their own audio files for purchased licensed sheet music and Hal Leonard titles too. That way, your choir director's rehearsal recording sits right next to the piece, on the web and in the app. The publisher's recordings remain unchanged.

Working with audio files has become more convenient in other ways as well: title and description can be changed after uploading, and recordings in M4A format, which many phones produce, are now supported. In addition, license seats are only taken when someone actually opens a piece, no longer when merely scrolling through the sheet music list.

Board area: mailbox, minutes and tasks

Boards now have their own area with a shared association mailbox, meeting minutes, resolutions and tasks. The mailbox now also shows the folder of sent emails, and emails that were moved or deleted by mistake can be brought back right away with "Undo". Leaving without losing data

When a member ended their access to a choir themselves, the address, joining date and bank details the choir needs for fees and membership records used to be lost as well. Now this data stays with the choir. The member loses access immediately and is removed from upcoming events, and the member list shows a "Left" note with the date. If it was a mistake, the choir director reactivates the member with one click. The choir still decides when the data is finally deleted.

Members and contacts

In a member's profile, birthday, joining date, wedding anniversary and other dates now also show how many years have passed since. The next anniversary catches your eye right away. When importing members, gender can now be imported as well.

Contacts get custom fields: customer number, contact person or whatever else your choir wants to record, as text, number, date, yes/no or a selection. When importing, columns with the same name are automatically matched to your custom fields.

Download entire photo albums

After a concert, many people want all the photos at once. A whole album can now be downloaded as a ZIP file with one click, instead of saving each picture individually.

Voice trainer: swing and zoom

The voice trainer now plays pieces marked with swing the way they are meant to sound, with delayed off-beat eighths instead of straight ones. Cursor and scoring follow the swing. Repeats that start in the middle of a bar now run through cleanly. In the app, you can also enlarge and reduce the notation in the voice trainer with two buttons.

Further improvements

There are many smaller changes as well. The bell now remembers read notifications across all your devices. In comments, the app suggests matching people as you type @, and mentions such as @all are called what you would expect in every language. Optional fields for sheet music can be cleared again, and links in sheet music descriptions are clickable. In the cash book, transactions load page by page and therefore much faster, and the SKR 42 and SKR 49 charts of accounts have been updated. The terms and conditions and the privacy policy now show what changed most recently. Our website has a new look. We have also fixed a crash on launch on Android 9 and 10, jumping and flickering chats, and issues with voice volumes in the voice trainer.
