Since the last update post at the start of June, quite a few things have arrived in Chorilo – in the web application as well as in the app. From an improved voice trainer and gentler page turning in the score view to new options in the chat. Here is an overview of everything that has been added over the past weeks.
More of your own pieces for the voice trainer
The voice trainer practises individual parts with your members by playing them back – for that it needs the notation in a form it can read. There are now two new ways to provide it: the notation can be generated automatically from an uploaded sheet music PDF, and notation files you already have can now be reworked directly online. Step by step, this lets you bring more of your own pieces into the voice trainer.
An honest note: how well the automatic recognition from a PDF works depends on the original, and some rework is often needed. For larger corrections or creating notation from scratch we recommend a dedicated notation program such as MuseScore – editing tends to be more comfortable there. You then simply upload the finished file to Chorilo.
Gentler page turning in the sheet music app
In the app, swiping now slides the next or previous page softly in under your finger instead of jumping abruptly. This makes turning pages feel calmer and more natural, especially while practising. Anyone on an older device can switch the animation off in the settings. Turning pages with a foot pedal now also works reliably on every device – so your hands can stay on the instrument or the score.
Voice distribution at a glance
For events, you now see how the voices are spread not just as text but as a clear chart. At a glance, conductors and members can tell how many singers per voice part have said yes and where things might still be tight – a small help when planning rehearsals and performances.
More options in the chat
The chat has gained several improvements. When you open a conversation, Chorilo now jumps straight to the last unread message, so you no longer have to scroll for long. Group chats can now be renamed, and conversations you no longer need can be archived – they disappear from the active overview but remain stored and can be brought back whenever needed.
Larger files and more order
In the files area you can now upload considerably larger files – up to one gigabyte per file instead of a hundred megabytes. That leaves room for longer recordings or extensive documents. You can also move files into other folders afterwards and reorganise your storage at any time.
Private notes on events – now in the app too
The internal notes on events that only the leadership can see are now shown in the mobile app as well. Hints about the technology, the running order or organisational details are therefore just as handy on the go as at the computer.
Members can contribute to the media area
The media area gathers pictures and files around your choir. If you wish, members may now upload files there themselves – no longer only the leadership. That way snapshots from a performance or recordings from rehearsal come together on their own. If you would rather not, simply leave the setting off; uploading then stays with the leadership.
Ticket sales now for every choir
The built-in ticket sales for concerts and events are now open to every choir – no longer just a selected few. You set up the event and prices, sell tickets directly through Chorilo and keep an eye on revenue and seats sold. We cover this in detail in our separate post on ticket sales.
Further improvements
On top of this come many smaller fixes: in the app's score view markings across several pages are now saved correctly, the attendance overview only shows members who actually belong to an event, and there were improvements to stability and security in many places across web and app.
We keep developing Chorilo step by step. If you have wishes for new features or come across something that could work better, we look forward to your feedback – via the AI chatbot, the feature request function or by email.
