March brings an extensive collection of new features and improvements that noticeably advance Chorilo in many areas. From the long-awaited time zone support to a completely enhanced photo album, the new global search and important cashbook functions – this update makes daily work with Chorilo even more comfortable and powerful.
Time Zone Support
Choirs with members in different countries or on concert tours to other time zones previously faced the problem that all times were displayed without a clear time zone reference. This regularly led to confusion, especially when members lived or travelled in different time zones. With the new time zone support, each choir can now set its own time zone. All events and times are then displayed in the choir's time zone – both in the web application and the mobile app. This ensures that all members always know which time zone the times refer to, regardless of where they currently are.
Photo Album with Videos and Larger Uploads
The photo album has received a comprehensive upgrade. In addition to photos, videos can now be uploaded and played directly in the album. Support for additional image formats has also been expanded, so virtually every common format is accepted. The upload limit has been raised to 1 GB per file, which is particularly relevant for high-resolution videos and large photo files. These enhancements make the photo album a full-fledged media archive where choirs can centrally collect their concert recordings, rehearsal videos and event photos and share them with all members.
Global Search
With the new global search, you can find everything in Chorilo with a single keystroke. Using the keyboard shortcut Cmd+K or Ctrl+K, a search window opens that simultaneously searches sheet music, events, notifications, members, choirs and the cashbook. Results are displayed organised by category and can additionally be filtered by choir and category. The entire operation works fully via keyboard, making the search particularly fast and efficient. We have presented the global search in detail in a dedicated blog post.
Receipt Recognition in the Cashbook
Cashbook management is considerably simplified by the new receipt recognition feature. When you attach a receipt as an image or PDF to a transaction, Chorilo automatically recognises the relevant information such as amount, date and description and pre-fills the corresponding fields. This saves a great deal of time when recording receipts and reduces input errors. Receipt recognition works with invoices, receipts and other common document types. We have also described this feature in detail in a separate blog post.
Cashbook Import and Extended Export
For associations that want to migrate their accounting from another system to Chorilo, there is now an import function for the cashbook. Existing transactions can be imported via a structured file, which significantly simplifies the transition. In addition, the export function has been expanded: all available fields of a transaction are now included in the export, including the additional fields that were also newly added in this update. The cashbook now offers more detail fields per transaction and enables more differentiated recording of income and expenditure.
New Event Type: Internal Event
In addition to rehearsals, concerts and other events, there is now a new event type: the internal event. Internal events are intended for organisational occasions that do not fall into the classic categories, such as board meetings, planning meetings or stocktaking. The new type helps to better structure the calendar and distinguish different types of events at a glance. The internal event is available both in the web application and the mobile app.
Chat Groups as Visibility Option
Visibility control for events and notifications has been expanded with an additional dimension: chat groups. In addition to the existing options via permission groups, ensemble functions and voice parts, events and notifications can now also be made visible specifically for certain chat groups. This is particularly practical if you already use chat groups for certain subsets of your ensemble, such as for a project choir or a concert tour group. This way you reach exactly the right people without having to create an additional permission group.
Archive Function for Notifications
Notifications that are no longer current but should not be deleted can now be archived. Archived notifications disappear from the active view, providing greater clarity, but remain accessible at any time via the archive. This is particularly useful for ensembles with high notification volumes, where the active list would otherwise quickly become cluttered.
New Sheet Music Import
The sheet music import has been completely redesigned and now offers a significantly improved workflow. The new import guides you step by step through the process and supports more metadata and configuration options than before. This allows large sheet music collections to be transferred to Chorilo more quickly and precisely.
Additionally, there is a new PDF import designed specifically for PDF sheet music. When uploading, an AI automatically scans the first page of each file and recognises the piece's metadata – such as title, composer and instrumentation. The recognised data is pre-filled and can be reviewed before you jump to the next piece. This significantly speeds up the import of large collections.
Voice Filter and Member Management
The members list in the web application has received a new voice filter. You can now filter the list by voice parts to quickly display all sopranos, tenors or other voice groups. This considerably simplifies management, especially for larger ensembles. Additionally, there is a new option to exclude individual members from events. This is useful, for example, for members on a break or passive members who should not receive event invitations.
App Improvements
The mobile app has received several improvements. Assigned tasks are now displayed directly on the dashboard, so members can immediately see which open tasks are waiting for them. The drawing tools in the PDF viewer are now scrollable, which significantly improves usability on smaller screens as all tools are accessible without the view appearing cluttered. For Android users, the menu has been redesigned and now offers clearer and more intuitive navigation.
New Languages: Italian and Slovenian
Chorilo is now available in two additional languages. Both the web application and the mobile app have been fully translated into Italian and Slovenian. This means Chorilo now supports eight languages: German, English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Swedish, Italian and Slovenian. Language selection is automatic based on browser settings or can be changed manually in the profile settings.
Further Improvements
The upload limit for audio files has been increased from 50 MB to 100 MB, providing more room for longer practice recordings. There is a new setting for event reminders that allows you to individually specify when and how you want to be reminded of upcoming events. The cookie consent dialogue has been updated and now meets the latest data protection requirements. Presentation slides have been added to the website, providing a quick overview of Chorilo's features. Numerous smaller bug fixes and stability improvements have also been made.
We are continuously working to make Chorilo better. If you have ideas for new features or encounter problems, we would love to hear from you. Use the AI chatbot, the feature request function, or send us an email.
