Chats overview
Here you see all your chats at a glance — 1:1 chats with individual members and group chats of your ensemble, sorted by activity.
What is this?
The Chats overview is your central place for direct communication in Chorilo. Here you find all private 1:1 chats with individual members as well as all group chats you are a member of. Unlike Notifications (which are meant for official announcements to the whole ensemble), chats are for quick personal coordination.
Typical use cases for chats:
- Quick question to a section leader or the choir director
- Voice section coordination about a rehearsal date
- Organizational matters in the board or a working group
- Personal exchange between two members
How to use the overview
- Open the Chats area in the main menu or tap the Chat tab in the app.
- Tap an entry to open the chat and see the latest messages.
- Start a new chat via the plus icon or the "New chat" button.
Each chat in the list shows you the name of the member (or the group name), the profile picture, a preview of the last message, the time of last activity and the number of unread messages.
Permission
You need the permission chat.view to see the chats overview and participate in chats. By default all members have this. Via permission groups under Administration > Permission groups you can restrict the chat function for individual groups if needed.
Tips
- Use the search at the top of the overview to quickly find the right chat or a member — especially useful in large ensembles.
- Mute unimportant group chats if you only want to check in occasionally. Messages stay visible, but you do not get a push notification.
- Keep 1:1 chats for personal topics and rather use notifications for official announcements to the whole ensemble.
