October 2026: Voice trainer in the browser, markings for everyone and app 3.0.7

Only a little over a week has passed since our last overview at the end of September, and yet quite a lot has come together. The voice trainer now runs in the browser too, choir leaders can add markings to the sheet music for the whole choir, and the app can show events as a monthly calendar. Shortly after this post went live, a newsletter for clubs with the board area, statistics for each member and an optional reason for "Maybe" were added. App version 3.0.7 with all app updates will appear in the App Store and on Google Play in the next few days. Here is everything at a glance.

The voice trainer, now in the browser too

Until now the voice trainer was only available in the app. Now you can practise at your computer as well: for sheet music with a finished voice trainer exercise, the web version shows a "Practice" button. It opens the trainer in full screen. You choose your voice part and the tempo, set the volume of each part in the voice mixer and mark a section to repeat in a loop. With the microphone switched on, Chorilo draws your sung pitch as a line over the notes, and you get your results at the end.

If you sing a part an octave higher or lower, for example a tenor singing a soprano line, switch on "Any octave". Then the right note counts even when it is sung in a different register. Web and app use the same notation display, so an exercise looks the same on every device.

Markings for the whole choir

Breath marks, cuts, the dynamics for the concert: until now every member drew these into their own sheet music after they were announced in rehearsal. Now the choir leader can do it once for everyone. When you start drawing in the app, you choose between "Just for me" and "For everyone". Markings for everyone sit on their own layer underneath each member's personal markings and apply to the choir and the sheet music version in question.

Chorilo asks for confirmation before saving. Anyone who has the piece open sees the new markings right away, even without a live rehearsal. They are included when you share the piece as a PDF. If two people work on the same page at the same time, nothing is silently overwritten. By default only administrators may draw for everyone, but the choir can give this permission to other permission groups.

Events: calendar, look back and church services

In the app, the event list now offers "Past" and "Calendar" next to "Upcoming". The calendar shows a whole month at a glance, with coloured dots for each event type and the members' birthdays, provided you are allowed to see birthdays. Tap a day to list that day's events and birthdays.

Church choirs get the new event type "Church service". You can also decide who sees the attendee list of an event and who only sees the number of responses. By default all members still see both, but you can restrict this per permission group.

Several event workflows have become simpler. When editing an event, one tick marks all members as "Attending", while declines stay as they are. When a whole event series is deleted, members receive a single notice instead of one per event. Additional choirs can now be added to an event or removed later on, as long as its visibility is not restricted. In the member list you can see which upcoming events a member is missing and add them straight away, optionally as "Attending". When you set members to passive, Chorilo asks whether they should be removed from upcoming events.

A choir can now also require a reason for "Maybe", just as it already could for declines. With the setting switched on, members briefly say why they are still unsure when they answer. The reason appears in the attendee list and is visible to the same people as decline reasons. In addition, new event types such as "Church service" now show up in the app even if you had filtered the event list before.

Statistics for each member, with PDF

How reliably does a member come to rehearsals and performances? In the web version, the "Attendance" tab of a member now shows statistics for a period of your choice: attendance as a percentage, absences split into excused, declined and without notice, how many days in advance declines came in on average, short-notice declines and a comparison with the choir average for the same events. There are also breakdowns by event type and month, and an overview of whether someone attended a concert and how many of the related rehearsals they came to. Only past events are counted.

Below that, every event in the period is listed individually, with the response and the reason for declining. One click downloads the report as a PDF, for example for a one-to-one conversation. It contains no bank details and no notes. By default only administrators can see the statistics, and they only include events that the person viewing them is allowed to see. Every download is logged.

Sheet music and the sheet music shop

If you play a recording in the sheet music viewer and close the audio player, the music keeps playing. A small player with pause and stop appears above the bottom bar, and tapping it opens the full player again. Licensed sheet music now opens without an internet connection and is included in "Save offline". Sheet music in formats other than A4, such as the US octavo format, is shown in full on tablets instead of being cut off at the bottom.

The sheet music shop now sorts search results by recommendation. When signed in, you first see music that fits the voicing and language of your choirs. Everything else moves down but stays visible. The search forgives typos and also looks through tags and descriptions. When the last free license seat of a piece is taken, the choir's administrators receive an email with a link to buy more.

Board: newsletter, AI switch and mail history

New in the board area is a newsletter for everyone who does not sing in the choir: concert audiences, supporters, former members. People sign up on a dedicated sign-up page with your logo, which you can share as a link or QR code or embed in your website. Signing up is also possible when buying tickets, when registering as a member and through an invitation from your contacts. Every sign-up is confirmed by email. You can keep several lists, adapt the email templates and put each issue together from blocks such as text, image, button, file or event, with a preview as you write.

Issues are sent via Chorilo. Each one contains an unsubscribe link that works immediately without signing in, and undeliverable addresses are sorted out automatically. Opens and clicks are not tracked. The newsletter is included in the board area at no extra cost. Choir associations with their own association area in Chorilo can use it too.

The board area can summarise meetings with AI. Each choir now decides for itself whether that happens. Chorilo asks on your first visit to the board area, and you can change the decision later in the choir settings. As long as nobody has agreed, the AI stays off and no meeting text is sent to the AI service.

For members and contacts, the web version now shows the latest mails with that person from the club mailbox, both received and sent, including group mails and mails from linked parents. One click takes you straight to the mail. Only people with access to a mailbox can see this.

Subscription and invoices

All administrators of a choir can now see and download the Chorilo subscription invoices on the subscription page, not just the person who pays. A choir stays unlocked as long as its subscription is paid, even if the paying person has left the choir. If you pay by invoice, you receive a separate reminder before renewal, and the reminder during the trial is now called a trial reminder. Invoices that choirs write with Chorilo once again contain the correct data for e-invoicing.

Other improvements

In the web version, photos and images open in a shared viewer with slideshow and full screen. When you set up a choir or project, a step indicator shows how far along you are. Profile pictures can be enlarged by tapping them again. In Safari the date picker closes again after you pick a day, and sheet music PDFs open in older Safari versions too. In the app, the new version fixes an empty chat on Android, chats no longer jump when opening or loading older messages, the playlist sounds in full quality over Bluetooth and in the car again instead of like a phone call, the photo library opens reliably on iPad, and the sheet music list keeps its offline copy when you refresh without internet. When signing in, the app names the field that is still empty. And Chorilo Files for Mac stays connected while the Mac is locked.

Many of these updates come from requests by choirs. If something is missing or could work better, write to us: via the AI chatbot, the feature request function or by email.
