May 2026: Bank Connection, Statement of Operating Income and Multi-Ensemble Reports

Following the second April update, the first May update brings features that change a lot around club finances. The highlights are the automatic bank connection in the cashbook, the statement of operating income as a new export, reports across all linked ensembles and a member import into projects from the entire ensemble network. On top of that come many detail improvements in the web and app.

Automatic Bank Connection in the Cashbook

The cashbook can now be connected directly to the club's bank account. Instead of downloading transactions monthly from the online banking interface and typing them in by hand, Chorilo retrieves the bookings automatically and stores them as suggestions in the cashbook. Treasurers see every new transaction, assign it to a category and a member, and import it with a single click. The connection runs through a certified bank interface provider and supports nearly all German banks and many European institutions. The club's account is given read-only access, and a separate TAN procedure every 90 days keeps the connection valid (legally required by PSD2). Since the interface entails ongoing licensing costs, the bank connection is available as a paid add-on for €2.50 per month or €25 per year – depending on the billing interval of the main subscription. All details, a step-by-step guide and answers on data protection and security will follow in a dedicated post over the next few days.

Statement of Operating Income in the Cashbook

For the annual tax return of small clubs, the statement of operating income (EÜR) is now available in the cashbook. Chorilo totals all bookings of a financial year by the four club spheres – non-profit area, asset management, special-purpose operations and commercial business operations – as well as by EÜR positions such as membership fees, donations, material expenses or travel costs. The evaluation can be downloaded as a PDF or Excel file and directly attached to the tax return. The prerequisite is that every category and every account in the chart of accounts has been linked once with the corresponding EÜR position and sphere – this happens in the master data and then applies to all future bookings. This saves the club treasury hours of sorting in Excel sheets at year-end.

Reports Across All Linked Ensembles

Anyone running several ensembles under one umbrella – such as a main choir with children's, youth and project choirs – can now generate the most important reports across ensembles. In the export modals for member lists, attendance statistics, anniversaries and sheet music archives, there is a new option "All Ensembles". With it, Chorilo combines the data of all connected ensembles into a single report, with a clear assignment per row showing which ensemble the entry belongs to. Useful for preparing annual general meetings, association reports or joint honours – without having to export each choir individually and merge them by hand.

Member Import into Projects from the Entire Ensemble Network

When creating a project choir, the line-up can now be drawn from all linked ensembles, not just from the main choir. Anyone planning a summer project with singers from several choirs or voice groups picks the desired people directly from a shared list instead of inviting them individually or duplicating them. The imported members keep their master data and are additionally assigned to the project without disappearing from their original ensemble.

"Only Without Response" Filter for Events

Both on the web and in the app, events can now be filtered by those for which you have not yet given a response. With one click, exactly the rehearsals and performances that are still missing a yes or no appear in the list. This helps you go through them quickly at the start of the week and leave nothing pending.

Event Filters Are Saved

Until now, all events were always shown when the event list was opened. From now on, Chorilo remembers the most recently chosen filters per device – such as "Only future events", "Only without response" or a specific category. The next time you open the list, you land directly in your familiar view.

Sheet Music Count in Event Details

In the event detail view, the "Sheet Music" tab now displays the number of linked pieces. This makes it easy to see at a glance how extensive the rehearsal repertoire is for a particular event without having to open the tab first. Web and app show the same number.

Counting Files and Displaying Them Directly

The "Files" tab in the event detail view now also shows the number of attached documents. In addition, the most important files are displayed directly in the expanded event detail view, so that images, PDFs and audio recordings are accessible without an additional click. Anyone wanting to quickly look at the seating plan or the schedule shortly before a rehearsal saves a step.

Sheet Music Tab and Drawing in the App

Event editors without full sheet music permissions now also see the sheet music tab of an event in the app, so they can review the pieces of the rehearsal plan. In addition, a bug in the drawing function has been fixed: strokes, markings and notes made with the Apple Pencil or finger are now reliably saved again and displayed correctly when the piece is reopened.

Faster Sheet Music List in the App

The sheet music list in the mobile app now loads noticeably faster. Especially on older devices and for ensembles with several hundred pieces, the difference is noticeable when scrolling and searching. The reason is a redesigned list display that loads images and metadata only when they appear in the visible area.

Mobile App Version 2.0.0

The mobile app has been available in version 2.0.0 since 5 May. The version jump marks the completed migration to the new React Native architecture and the features around the Bluetooth pedal, singing career and association area announced in the April update. Existing installations are updated automatically via the App Store and Google Play.

Cleaner Cashbook Entry Editing

The edit view for an individual cashbook entry has been tidied up: fields are more clearly grouped, assignments to members, categories and receipts are directly visible, and frequent actions such as attaching a receipt, splitting an entry or creating a recurrence are now prominent instead of hidden in submenus. The functional scope stays the same, but the path to reach it becomes shorter.

Ticket Sales More Directly on the Public Website

Anyone running their club website with Chorilo can now display ticket sales directly on the website. For every event with an active ticket shop, a "Buy tickets" notice appears with a remaining-seats indicator that leads directly into the booking process. An extra click to a detail page is no longer necessary, which experience shows significantly increases conversion at concerts and events.

Further Improvements

On top of this come many smaller fixes and stability improvements: an improved filter in the event list, less waiting time for large member imports, more robust push notifications, a series of security fixes as well as revised texts for AI-supported search and for legal notices.
